About John Hibbs
John has been a keen sportsman from an early age enjoying both cricket and football. He joined Crewe FC in 1991 at the tender age 13. Unfortunately, his dreams were not to be realised and he was forced to retire due to the onset of arthritis, which has seen him endure the associated aches and pains of the disease. He has attempted to combat arthritis with medicine, a controlled diet and exercise but continues to battle against the limiting effects of ‘dodgy knees’ as he calls them.
John’s sister, Viki, was diagnosed with Lupus in 2008 and in a bid to support her he decided to run the 2010 Virgin London Marathon. He also took up the challenge as a personal goal, which would test his endurance and demand a level of commitment not before expected of him.
John’s aim is to increase the profile of the charity, LUPUS UK, which has offered an invaluable support network for Viki. He will endeavor to achieve success and break through the barriers that arthritis currently place upon him whilst raising much needed cash for the charity.
In April 2010 John joined the West Midlands Lupus Group taking the position of Publicity & Fundraising Officer in order to build on the fantastic work he is already doing for the charity.
