On April 23, 2010, in Lupus Awareness, Lupus Fundraising, Lupus Runner, Running, by admin

When deciding on another challenge, I thought I needed to go that extra mile, in fact 1000 miles! My 1000 Mile Challenge commences with the Virgin London Marathon 2010. Then throughout the following year, I intend to keep on running! I aim to complete this mammoth challenge crossing the finishing line in the Virgin London [...]

A Staggering £6000

On April 21, 2010, in Lupus Awareness, Lupus Fundraising, Lupus Runner, by admin

I think I was 6 the last time I cried but right now I don’t mind telling you I can’t stop! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine we would raise this amount of money. I promised the West Midlands Lupus Group I would raise £850 as part of my London Marathon Golden [...]

Inspiration

On March 21, 2010, in Lupus Runner, Running, Virgin London Marathon, by John Hibbs

Since I made the decision to run the London Marathon to support my sister and Lupus West Midlands back in June 2009, motivation isn’t something I’ve been lacking. But over the last few weeks, watching Eddie Izzard battle his way around the country and complete 43 marathons in 51 days has given me the inspiration [...]

10 Miles

On March 14, 2010, in Lupus Runner, Running, Virgin London Marathon, by John Hibbs

Today saw us complete our biggest run so far, 10 miles! As  you can see from the picture the route took us around parts of Cannock Chase, ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, not sure we shared that same thought for two hours this morning though! We set off at a fantastic pace and managed [...]

Twitter support

On January 16, 2010, in Support, by John Hibbs

The cupboards have been cleansed of anything that may hinder my journey to become a marathon runner and I must say I’m craving the quadruple chocolate cookies but I’m coping.  In order to counter the pangs of craving, I have been training hard this week.   Despite the snow piling up outside, I did a dicey [...]

On January 12, 2010, in Lupus Awareness, by John Hibbs

You cannot have failed to notice that the site has somewhat changed in appearance. I have switched to using Word Press which enables me to blog from anywhere in the world using my iPhone Word Press app. I hope you like the result – I certainly do. The P.T sessions are going great guns. Even [...]

First road run

On July 7, 2009, in Lupus Fundraising, Running, Virgin London Marathon, by John Hibbs

After a  5:45 am start, I completed my 1st road run achieving 2.28 miles in 22 minutes.  At first I really struggled but I soon got into my stride and settled into a slow, but comfortable pace.  Feeling euphoric, I tucked into a hearty breakfast of Branflakes and OJ. I have also switched from using [...]
